Project Director / Webmaster
Peter Karnes has a background in multiple career fields, including substance abuse and mental health rehabilitation, as well as business management and fine art photography. Mr. Karnes studied photography at the Colorado Institute of Art in Denver between 1997-1998 and later graduated with honors from Florida’s St. Petersburg College in 2007. As a visual artist and long time BDD sufferer himself, he knows first-hand how difficult it can be to cope with body image issues in today’s competitive, beauty-driven society. Peter’s personal struggles ultimately became the inspiration for The BDD Alliance website, which launched in June of 2013. Peter now lives in Durham, NC, where he works as an investor and part-time photographer.
